Update 09.05.25
Dear parent / carer,
Please note the following:
- Next Monday, 12th May is class photo day.
- Mobile phones – we are having phones appear in school again. The school policy is no phones – this is a safeguarding issue both in school (access to inappropriate sites etc) and out of school if the child is on their own (making them a target for theft). This does not, of course, cover children who need their phone to monitor their blood sugar / insulin levels. We will accept ‘brick’ phones if, for whatever reason, you need your child to be able to contact you at the end of the day as your arrangements change regularly (picked up by a different parent in different locations for example) – if this is the case, please write to me to let me know and we will arrange for the phone to be stored safely during the day.
- Friends of Croesyceiliog Primary School (PTA) – there is a meeting on Friday 23rd May at 2:15p.m in the school staffroom (by the main entrance). Lots of new ideas ae coming through to raise money and provide social events for the children – could you offer some support? Do come along (free cup of tea!).
- Sports Day – Juniors (Year 3,4,5 and 6) at 10:00a.m on the school field, infants (Years R,1 and 2) at 1:45p.m on the infant yard. In terms of the infants, we will use the grass bank for viewing, so sensible shoes / a blanket to sit on may be a good idea! If you have mobility issues or have a pram, there will be access up the path so you can view from there, or go all the way up and then down to the top, flatter part of the bank. For both sports days, please note:
-
- Whilst there is a competitive element, we have children here with a range of physical, emotional, mental and cognitive needs – we are aiming to be fully inclusive and, ultimately, we want all the children to enjoy themselves and have a positive experience (it’s not the Olympics!).
- Whilst having family members on site to support, we still need to maintain our safeguarding procedures. Please stay in the parent / carer areas. Children to be picked up at the end of the day with the usual arrangements.
- Children will be asked to wear their PE kit to school on this day and wear a coloured T-shirt according to which team they are in. Please check with your class teacher for information if you are unsure.
- If the weather remains sunny, remember suncream and a hat for your child – they should have access to their water bottle in any case.
All the best. Enjoy the sunshine!
