Parent Governor Election Feb 2025
The school has a vacancy for a parent governor.
Ballot papers will go out next Monday (17th Feb), to be returned no later than noon on Monday 10th March.
Dear parent / carer,
As you should be aware, we have a vacancy on the governing body for parent governor. I have received 3 nominations as follows:
Kelsie Davies
Cariad Nash
Lisa Payne
Personal statements are below.
Given that we have 3 nominations but only one vacancy, we will run an election to determine who will be selected. All parents / legal guardians may vote (vote for 1 candidate) and we will send home 2 voting slips for yourself and your spouse / partner (these will be sent home with the youngest child in the family – see overleaf). Please indicate clearly on the ballot paper your choice and return to the school office by noon on Monday 10th March 2025.
Regards,
Simon Bates

As a parent whose youngest child has just started their educational journey, I am keen to contribute to ensuring the best possible outcome for all pupils at Croesyceiliog Primary.
With a background in business development and marketing, I believe I can bring a fresh perspective and practical skills to the Governing Body. I am passionate about creating a supportive and inspiring learning environment where every child deserves to thrive.
I am committed to:
Strategic Planning, helping to shape the school's long-term vision.
Financial Management, ensuring our resources are used wisely and effectively.
Marketing and Community Engagement, I want to encourage and promote the school's strengths and want to start building strong relationships with parents and the wider community.
I would love to work with fellow governors, staff, and parents to make a real difference for our children.
Cariad Nash
I am writing to express my interest in becoming a parent governor. I have a strong commitment to education and community development and believe I can contribute positively to the school's continued success.
I have over 15 years of experience working in the public sector, including central Government in both England and Wales, where I developed skills in leadership, strategic planning, and financial management. My background in health and public policy has given me a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities for public services, as well as the important role education plays in health and well-being and reducing inequalities.
Throughout my career, I have demonstrated an ability to navigate complex environments, manage public funds effectively, and engage with diverse stakeholders. My experience in managing large-scale government programmes has also given me an understanding of effective governance and the importance of transparency and accountability.
As a former pupil, and now a parent of a child at the school, I am deeply invested in its success and supporting its mission and values. I am also passionate about ensuring every child receives a high-quality education and can reach their full potential.
Lisa Payne
I would like to put myself forward for the role of school parent governors. Having been a past pupil of Croesyceiliog and now having a son attending gives me insight into both elements of school life.
What I can bring to the role? I previously worked within social care, I managed many different setting and worked with adults with learning difficulties, mental health and specialist in working with adult with autism and neodiversity. My 16 years of experience are in many different settings such as these homelessness, people in care setting and individual within their own homes. I have managed lots of staff and understand the importance of supporting people.
Now, I am self employed, I have my own business and love the flexibility that my role gives me. Given the flexibility in my role this would allow me to be able to attend meeting when required.
