Miss DiNunzio absence
Fri 04 Feb 202204/02/2022
Dear parent / carer,
I am writing to let you know that Miss DiNunzio is now off work for health reasons and won’t be returning until after Easter. In the meantime, the class will be covered by agency staff and, at the moment, we have secured the services of Ms Henry as their long term teacher. Mrs Roynon will remain in the class and help to provide consistency going forward.
I am sure that you would join with me in wishing Miss DiNunzio a speedy recovery. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss this further.
Regards,
Simon Bates

Return information Thursday 6th Jan 2022
Wed 05 Jan 202205/01/2022
Dear parent / carer,
I hope that you had a good Christmas break – happy New Year!
Regards the return to school arrangements, please note the following:
- Drop off and pick up arrangements will remain the same as before Christmas. Likewise, Breakfast Club and After School childcare will resume tomorrow (Thursday) as normal.
- Isolation rules have changed:
- If a child is symptomatic, isolate and get a PCR (under 5s isolate, no requirement for PCR). Isolate for 7 days minimum and only return after a negative LFT on days 6 and 7 – otherwise, isolate for 10 days.
- If your child is a close contact of a positive case, they should take a daily LFT for 7 days and, assuming it is negative, they are clear to come to school.
- Detailed isolation rules can be found here: Self-isolation | GOV.WALES
- Regards the symptoms, it appears that the new ‘Omicron’ variant can be similar (cough, high temperature, loss of taste and smell) but may also present as more like a common cold (runny nose, sore throat, nausea etc) – please be extra vigilant and careful as it spreads more readily than previous variants and, if unsure, isolate and take a test.
- We may be forced to close classes or year groups at short notice if the numbers of staff and / or pupils infected becomes unmanageable – we will try to keep you well informed and give you as much notice as possible. Should this happen, we will look to reinstate home learning for these classes and try to maintain care for blue light workers and other critical staff.
Let’s hope that this latest variant is short lived and that 2022 sees a return to 2019 levels of normality!
I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow (Thur 6th).
All the best,
Simon Bates

Croesy Primary news 07.12.2021
Tue 07 Dec 2021Dear parent / carer,
Please note the following:
- This coming Friday, 10th Dec is Save the Children’s ‘Christmas Jumper Day’ which we will be, once again, supporting. Donations direct to the charity please:
Christmas Jumper Day 2021 | Save the Children UK
- On this same day (this coming Friday) we are also looking for food donations to support the local foodshare on Woodland Road, ‘Croesy Foodshare Hwb’. In the past we have provided various non-perishables (packets of pasta / rice / sugar, tea bags, coffee, tinned fruit / meat / fish, biscuits or snack bars etc) but, given the time of year, you may like to donate something Christmassy! All donations to come to school and we will transport them down.
- Christmas parties. Christmas isn’t completely cancelled! Next week (with the exception of Class 5AT (this Fri 10th)) the classes / year groups will have a party in school with some light refreshments provided by the PTA (many thanks!). Children may come in their party clothes on this day, which is as follows:
Nursery Thur 16th
Rec Wed 15th
Year 1 Wed 15th
Year 2 Tue 14th
Year 3 Wed 15th
Year 4 Thur 16th
Class 5AT Fri 10th
Class 5M Thur 16th
Year 6 Thur 16th
- Christmas lunch is next Wed 15th (normal uniform other than party classes) – please make sure that you are registered online in order that you can pay for the meal (if your child normally has packed lunch). Contact us if you need details of how to register.
- Christmas cards and gifts – we are still managing the Covid issue, so if your children are giving things to one another, please restrict this to their own year group.
- Christmas productions have, of course, once again been cancelled this year (doesn’t feel the same in school!). However, as with everything else, we have gone virtual! We are putting together some songs etc at the moment and will share these with you next week to hopefully raise the spirits and put you in the mood for the festive season!
Remember that we finish at 2:00p.m on the last day, Friday 17th Dec. This includes Nursery.
All the best,
SB
